Talking Head Transmitters (THT) is an experimental low - frequency radio, airing at 88.3 MHz FM. Artist Eugenia Vargas Pereira founded the project in 2001 to take advantage of radio's special capacity for transporting sound, its democratic link with the community and to engage artists in thought-provoking discussions about ideas, art, social, cultural issues, and to interact with the general public. As artists, what is our role in society? As individuals what is our civic duty? and, what is the role of the listener?
Odalis Valdivieso joined the project from 2005 until 2010.
In 2009, artist Amalia Caputo joined the team to contribute with the radio's expansion.
She is interested in the radio format as a tool to establish dialogues and building perspectives through the spoken voice, both live stream and podcasts, as an active platform to enrich and help integrate Miami´s
community.
Martina Alvarez Lepeley,THT newest member "I'm interested in working collectively and not necessarily needs to be listened to. If I could be a witness to my life, that would be the reason to work with radio. That way, I could share with others and take the distance from my world and turn it into a radio piece".
THT's free form, airs interviews with guests reflecting our diversity, including sound, visual, and performance artists, curators, poets, writers, children and extremely opinionated individuals.THT has broadcasted live from The Home Shows series in Miami, Art Basel Miami Beach, Subtropics Sound Art Festival, Vienna Art Week, Austria, Sleepless Night, Miami Contemporary,Arteaméricas, Miami, Arteahora, Chicago, Why are we here?
